Connecticut offers a unique blend of New England charm and modern convenience.

Here are some of the biggest draws:

• Beautiful Scenery: From the Long Island Sound coastline to the rolling hills and vibrant fall foliage, Connecticut's landscape is undeniably stunning. In fact almost every town will make sure that they have a land trust to avoid the towns from being overdeveloped. We want to save space. You can drive less than an hour in almost any direction and see mountains in the backdrop, see a beautiful beach or go hiking in the woods. 
• Four Distinct Seasons: Experience the full spectrum of seasons! Enjoy crisp autumns, snowy winters, blossoming springs, and warm summers. Each season brings its own set of activities and beauty. I was not even an outdoor person but there is so much to do, I became one!
• Proximity to Major Cities: Connecticut's strategic location offers easy access to New York City, Boston, and other major metropolitan areas. This is perfect for those who want a quieter lifestyle but still need access to big-city amenities and job markets. Living here in my forties, allows me the access to entertainment but I can come home to quiet and calm.
• Strong Sense of Community: Many Connecticut towns boast a strong sense of community, with local events for every single season, farmers' markets, and a welcoming atmosphere.
• Excellent Schools & Healthcare: As we'll discuss in more detail later, Connecticut is known for its top-rated public schools and access to quality healthcare.

The Flip Side: Challenges to Consider

While Connecticut offers a lot, it's essential to be aware of the potential challenges:

• High Cost of Living: Connecticut is generally an expensive state, particularly when it comes to housing compared to other states. However, I feel it is a good trade off for what you receive in return. 
• Property Taxes: Be prepared for potentially high property taxes, which can significantly impact your overall housing costs. Now keep in mind that each town has their own mill rate. And your taxes are determined by your town, how old your home is and how many bedrooms that you have. You can increase how much home you can by, simply by looking one town over with lower taxes.
• Commuting: Depending on where you choose to live and work, commutes can be long and traffic can be a concern, especially in Fairfield County. A lot of us are hybrid or remote workers. If you work before 8am and after 7pm, you can avoid most traffic issues. A better way to avoid them altogether is to jump on the Metro North to NYC.
• Winters: While some enjoy the four seasons, Connecticut winters can be sharp. We tend to have the lowest temps mid January to March. I rarely see bad weather more than three consecutive days in a row.

• Stamford: A popular city in Fairfield County, Stamford offers a mix of urban and suburban living. The average home price can vary significantly depending on the specific neighborhood, but you can generally expect to find prices ranging from $600,000 to well over $1 million.
• Milford: Located on the coast, Milford offers a more relaxed, beach-town vibe. The average home price in Milford tends to be more moderate than Stamford, generally ranging from $400,000 to $800,000, though waterfront properties will command higher prices.
• Glastonbury: In Hartford County, Glastonbury is known for its excellent schools and family-friendly atmosphere. The average home price in Glastonbury typically falls between $500,000 and $900,000.

• Best Public Schools: Connecticut is renowned for its excellent public school system. We are often in the top five for the United States. Many towns have highly rated schools and offer a wide range of educational opportunities. Be sure to research school districts in your target areas.
• Access to Healthcare: Connecticut has a strong healthcare system, with access to top hospitals and medical professionals. The state offers a variety of healthcare options, including private insurance and state-sponsored programs.
